Antoine Massey, who had escaped from jail, was apprehended on Friday, June 27, in New Orleans, as confirmed by the US Marshals Service and Louisiana State Police.
Massey was apprehended in the 9400 block of Stroelitz Street, located in the Hollygrove area, according to authorities.

A representative from the Marshals indicated that the arrest followed a tip from Crimestoppers. However, Orleans Parish Sheriff Susan Hutson later clarified that the information that led to Massey’s capture was provided to her directly via phone.
According to officials, Massey found himself alone in a house when he was surrounded and ultimately chose to surrender to authorities. “He peacefully surrendered to law enforcement who had surrounded the house,” stated New Orleans police Supt. Anne Kirkpatrick during a news conference.
Just six weeks have passed since the dramatic escape of 10 inmates from the Orleans Justice Center jail, which took place shortly after midnight on May 16. The recent arrest marks a significant development in this unfolding story.
Massey, 33, has become the ninth escapee to be recaptured, leaving only four-time killer Derrick Groves still on the run. For weeks now, a $50,000 reward has been offered for any information that could lead to the arrest of the remaining escapees.
