Video recorded after the incident shows a large opening above the dining area, with broken ceiling material and insulation scattered across the floor, tables and cooking station. Customers can be seen standing around in shock while employees survey the damage.
One woman appears to be down among the debris as people nearby rush to assist her. A Facebook post sharing the footage claimed that people were hurt during the July 19 incident, but the number of injuries and their severity have not been officially confirmed.
The cause of the collapse was also unclear at the time of publication. The footage quickly spread online as viewers expressed concern for everyone who had been seated beneath the damaged section.
Arigato’s official website lists its Winston-Salem restaurant at 2995 Bethesda Place. Neither the restaurant nor local authorities appeared to have released a detailed public statement immediately following the incident.
What began as a regular night of dinner and hibachi entertainment turned into a frightening scene within seconds.
