A devastating incident unfolded in Miami over the weekend when two brothers were fatally shot after rushing to protect their sister from her boyfriend, according to police reports.
Authorities say Gianni Pierre, 28, and his younger brother Jaheim, 23, were shot by Antwan Carter, 31, inside their sister’s apartment shortly after noon on Saturday. The confrontation began when the brothers, concerned for their sister’s safety due to a reported history of domestic violence, arrived at her residence to check on her.

According to the arrest report, a dispute erupted between Jaheim and his sister, escalating when Carter intervened. The situation quickly became physical, involving all three men.
Police allege that Carter left the apartment, went to his car, and returned armed with a Glock 9mm handgun. Upon re-entering, he reportedly challenged the brothers before opening fire, striking Gianni, who was sitting on the couch. Gianni was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital but succumbed to his injuries.
Jaheim was also shot and was later discovered bleeding in a closet. Their sister was unharmed physically but left traumatized by the ordeal.
Carter was taken into custody at the scene, reportedly admitting to possessing the firearm and claiming that the brothers had confronted him aggressively before the shooting. He stated he initially left the apartment to get some air and retrieve personal items from his vehicle.
During the investigation, police recovered several spent shell casings and projectiles from the scene. Neighbors reported being startled awake by the sound of gunfire, describing it as a series of five shots followed by a door slamming.
Carter is facing charges of first-degree murder, a capital felony in Florida and potentially punishable by the death penalty.
This tragic event underscores the dangers of domestic violence and the heartbreaking consequences that can arise when loved ones intervene.
